Although this adventure has been absolutely wonderful so far, there are some few differences that will take some getting used to.
We have been eating out for every meal since we arrived, so I decided I was ready to tackle the grocery store and cook a homemade meal! Looking back, I should have grilled some simple chicken and roasted some veggies… however, I had other plans in mind after watching one of those awesome cooking videos online. With ingredient list in hand, a screaming toddler, and Joe following suit, we headed to the grocery store. I might have had a mini breakdown in the store after making 50 laps trying to find ingredients that did not exist or were not what I was used to. To top it off, Eli was having an epic meltdown after epic meltdown in the store. He ate 2 pouches off the shelf, 1 pack of cookies, and I attempted to open him a banana that was yellow and it was hard as a rock… literally. I handed it to him anyway and thought it would be good to teeth on. He put it in his mouth, couldn’t even bite it, and continued to throw it with his best pitching maneuver. Then I had to find somewhere to dispose of said banana so I didn’t have to explain to cashier why I was checking out 1/2 of a hard rock banana. Joe was being such a sweet husband and pushing him around (and may or may not have been told by a sweet older English lady to not have any more kids, but that’s a whole other story).
The final straw was the squash…yes I had a breakdown over a squash haha. The sweet guy working in the store showed me where the “squash” was…. and it was a pumpkin. Yes a small pumpkin. No squash. So guess who’s recipe had no squash in it?
I walked briskly home to get some good endorphins going, because I sure needed it… I was too tired after the trip to even make the meal, so it was out to Steak & Co for us! But if was fantastic!! More on the recipe coming soon! 🙂
Leaving you with just a few sweet pictures of my boys! Eli was loving running down the streets of London with mommy & daddy quickly following and helicoptering from all directions! (No worries grandparents, he was chaperoned! Ha)
Day 6 Thoughts:
- We found a flat! Woo hoo!
- Next meal I make will be SIMPLE! Aka: go to the grocery store, whatever looks good, make it! Then no searching for certain ingredients!
- I am obsessed with the Lebanese food here!
