Saturday morning we woke up and it was snowing, so we decided to do semi-indoor activities. We took a tube to Piccadilly circus to head to the TKTS to find my mom and I last minute Broadway tickets.
While Joe and I waited in line, Honey and Eli toured the Nickolodean and M&M stores, which the M&M store was 100x bigger than I would have thought. Who would have thought that an entire store with M&M stuff would be so packed! It’s craziness!
We stopped by for a yummy hamburger, some cheese fries, and shakes at Shake Shack! We were surprised that it was not crowded when we went at 1:00 pm on a Saturday. However, when we were leaving at 2:00ish, it was much more crowded! We are learning that in general, people eat much later here for all meals.
After adventuring to find street markets (which we learned only had a few booths out this time a year), we took a tube home to get ready for the evening to go see Kinky boots! We had some wine and strawberry appetizers before we left and went on our way!
In true Garlington fashion, we arrived at the venue about 10 seconds before they stopped letting people in! Whoops! But we made it to our seats right in time for the show to start!
We weren’t too sure what the show was even about, but we had heard great things and we were just excited for a night out! However, the show was stellar! For those of you that don’t know, it’s about family-owned shoe company that the father dies and leaves the son to run the business. As fate had it, he met a drag queen and came up with the brilliant idea for a new niche market-“kinky boots” with heels that would hold the weight of a man without breaking! The movie has lots of laughs, jokes, but also tells a great story about accepting people for who they are! We had a fantastic time during intermission playing in the cardboard kinky boots, had some more wine, and headed back to our seats for the remainder of the show!
We had a fantastic evening out for a sweet mother-daughter date! Can’t wait for the rest of our week’s adventures with Honey!
