Over the weekend, we went to a Munich, Germany with Joe’s parents! Friday night we arrived pretty late, settled in to our amazing AirBNB, and the boys went out to grab some grub and beer to bring back for us!
We opted to take a taxi from the airport to the flat due to it being easier, and it was only slightly more expensive than all of us taking the train in! It worked out well because Eli passed out once he got into the taxi. When we were on the airplane, it hit me that we didn’t even think of a car seat. We aren’t used to worrying about car seats anymore and just hop in the nearest taxi in London, so I didn’t even think to look up the laws in Munich. However, we exited the airport and the second van we saw luckily had a car seat. After some research we learned most of them do have seats available, and we found one with the first taxi we stopped when we were headed home!
The AirBNB was seriously perfect for our needs and was decorated wonderfully! They also have a child a little older than Eli, so they had lots of toys, a toddler bed, and everything a toddler would need even down to kid spoons and forks. We turned on the appletv the first night and the show that was on was Peppa Pig! I instantly knew this was going to work out great!
The hosts also left us with a list of recommendations for some local places nearby, so we checked a few of them off our list, and they were all amazing!
Eli had a rough first night and was up screaming “NOSE!” most of the night. I would hold a tissue up to his nose, he would blow it, lay back down, but then was up in 2 seconds again yelling nose! It was a long exhausting night that included Joe and I take shifts so at least one of us could sleep!
When we decided to head out, although the temperature was 48, it felt like 30 and was rainy and super windy! We headed to the Viktualienmarkt, but only made a quick lap before realizing that we needed to go back to the flat for extra layers of clothes. However, I have been to this market before and it’s amazing, so if you are going to Munich, this is a great stop to add to your list!
When Joe was up for his shift at 4:30 am, he was researching the best coffee shops in Munich! Just by luck, the top ranked coffee shop was across the street from our airbnb! We headed over to Vitz, and let me just say that all the hype is so true! This was by far the best, smoothest latte I have ever had! We had lattes, fresh fruit, and a croissant here before heading off on our next adventure!
We had booked bike tours with Mike’s Bike Tours weeks before, but not going to lie, we really thought about cancelling the day of because the weather was no bueno! However, we are so glad we did not because it ended up being the highlight of our trip!
We started the bike tour at Marienplatz before heading to the bike shop that was right next to the Hoffbrauhaus that we would frequent over the weekend!
Our tour guide, Kyle, was informative, funny, and super accommodating that we had little Eli on board with us! We toured through the English Gardens, saw the Isar River, Maximilianeum, Peace Angel Monument, the Volksbad, the Theatine church, rubbed the lions for good luck, and so much more!
Since it was so rainy and windy, we skipped the beer garden since it was closed, and instead went to a small little place for some sausage and beer! It was great and a great way to break up the tour with a bathroom, snack, and beer break!
I will leave you with a picture overload of the rest of our bike tour of the beautiful city below, and I will pick up where I left off in the next post!
